Vernida Polacca Nampeyo was born in 1955 and has been making pottery since 1979. She was taught by her grandmother Fannie Nampeyo. She gathers all of her materials from the Reservation, uses natural pigments for her paints and fires her pottery outdoors. She is a member of the Parrot & Kachina Clans. She is the sister of Reva Polacca and Clinton Polacca. She has passed her talent on to her children Heidi Nodman (daughter), and Jeremy & Michael (sons). She says that making her pottery is relaxing to her. She won First Place Awards for 3 years straight at the Soutwest Museum in Los Angeles. The 3 dashes below her name represents 3rd Generation.
