Venora Silas

Venora Silas was born in 1967 and has been making pottery since 1977. She was taught by her mother Roberta Silas. She gathers all of her materials from the Reservation, uses natural pigments for her paints and fires her pottery outdoors. She is a member of the Parrot & Kachina Clans. She is the sister of Antoinette Silas and has 5 other sisters that are also potters. Her Uncle Tino Youvella is an accomplished Kachina Carver and her brother Darrin Silas is a master silversmith. She says that her favorite part of her art is moulding, polishing and painting. She is listed in several books.
